I was a neurotic, overly analytical, practically bi-polar sociopath.

Did they do like a background check and stuff? drug test? I bet they made you do all kinds of weirdo stuff!

How is the job so far?
    Lulu

I like it. yes there was a background check, that basically consisted of sending your prints to the FBI. and a whiz quiz. other than that standard job interview questions. I had to provide my own shoes and cover the payment for a merchant guard license (licenses you to work as a security guard by Denver city/county) once I got the job. they make sure and tell you not to get your license until you are accepted though. (its a $75 charge by city/county of Denver).

I'm getting trained in all sorts of new posts now (by my choice), so I can take advantage of the overtime that will be available soon since the city and county of Denver has given the company an additional contract for some new things at the airport. Which means they are hiring 100ish or more new people to do jobs like me.... so who wants a job? I might have sent someone a xanga message about that, since I was on xanga when I thought about it.

also my new boots for work

I'm really enjoying the 10p-6a shift too, the airport is neat when no one is there, never mind all the things I never even thought about might be there, hidden to the public.

    Update!

Yes I know, I'm a month behind in updating this. Thanks for emailing me and letting me know =)

To answer the question in the last post, I went to the Grand Canyon. That picture was somewhere between here and there.

Then a couple weeks later I went to the Kansas Renaissance Festival. (joust pictures from that can be found in my pics directory maybe the preview will work, maybe it won't who knows.)

THEN... I had a job interview, and a call back interview and then an offer and then a week of training and so now here I am, 10pm till 6am. yes graveyard, I did in fact volunteer for it. What is my new job you ask. Well I work....wait for it..... security at the airport.

Yes no shit. Someone is paying me to make sure a major international airport is secure. I'm still shocked my self. down sides(so far) - polyester uniforms. upsides - medical, dental, 401k, and the best pay second to my union job at Lucent and I get to walk/drive/sit around and push buttons and open doors/gates and check IDs of people all night. How does this not sound like fun?

Count down to funny airport stories...

    And there was driving...

Where do you think we ended up?

    Lost

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into locked a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.
