About scientology...and why I care.
Some of you have asked this. "Why do you care about Scientology, it's just a stupid celebrity cult. There are more important things going on, Darfur, the '08 presidential election, Iraq, poverty and abuses world wide." Pretty much anything else.
When I start telling them about human rights abuses that are committed right here in our good old US of A I'm met with disbelief or 'they were stupid enough to join they deserve what they get.'
What you people seem to forget is not everyone chooses, they are born in to it, or their parents choose for them. If they make it to an age where they try to choose for themselves they are faced with never being able to contact their family and friends again and the real possibility of harassment and stalking especially if they are ever found to have said anything bad about the 'church'.
These are people who were recruited from foreign countries and brought to the US on religious worker visas who've had to work on the opposite side of the country from their children who go years at a time with out being allowed to see their parents. These same children are forced to work in conditions that are in gross violation of our child labor laws. They receive little if any real education, and couldn't leave if they wanted to since the 'church' has their passports 'stored for safety' and they aren't allowed to have them back.
These are kids who were born in to this cult masquerading as a religion forced to work 20 hour days and disciplined when they miss work for the single day of school they are allowed. Provided with substandard health care and expected to live on only 'refried beans and rice' for years at a time. Coerced in to having abortions so they can continue to be productive workers.
All of this is happening here in our country, locally, by a group fond of using celebrity faces to promote their existence. A group given a tax exemption that encompasses far more than any other religion receives.
Personally I believe that by writing letters, peacefully protesting and most importantly educating the general public that these things happen, I will do more to help these people than anyone will ever do for Darfur, or any other country torn by civil war or ruled by ruthless dictators will by doing the same things or even throwing money at a charity.
This is just the beginning, it was originally posted at http://www.enturbulation.org/. Read the stories in the last link of the quote. Or sit there in your parents basement with your smug look of superiority knowing that you did your part by voting for Obama. And be happy knowing that even if you still don't care enough to tell someone you know about it, I'll still be your friend because I don't suck. =)
Hi Everyone,
Today, I go public. Today, I no longer hide behind a pseudonym. As of today, a new website, http://www.exscientologykids.com, launches.
This website was created as a collaboration between Astra Woodcraft, Jenna Miscavige Hill, and myself, Kendra Wiseman. It contains the stories of numerous children who grew up in Scientology, as well as easy-to-understand critical information for Scientology kids, and for people who are new to the Scientology critics movement.
I want to thank everyone on this forum who has supported me over the last two years while I dealt with disconnection. Your efforts, and the efforts of Anonymous, have made me feel safe speaking up. I want to afford the same luxury to others who may not feel so safe.
To read my story, and the stories of other children who grew up in Scientology, please check out the stories index on our site, which can be found at http://www.exscientologykids.com/storiesindex.html
If you have a story of growing up in Scientology, long or short, with your name or anonymously, we will publish it.
Thanks again. Enjoy.
Mom, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Cousins, Brother, Nephews and Nieces: I'm sorry, as I know this will upset you all further. I do feel that this truly is the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics. I love you all. Please don't let them convince you that I'm a suppressive person. Remember me.
Much Love,
Kendra
