What did I do on my day off?
*sneak attack*
*sneak attack*
*sneak attack*
*sneak attack*
*takes stupid amount of damage in one hit*
"ack! Dying!"
*sees spell effects*
*sees big scary monster suddenly dead*
"WTF was that!"
-"Isaac's Greater Missile Storm...maximized. Perhaps one of the most powerful spells when used on a single target that has elemental resistance and ...blah blah blah wizard talk".
"...."
*thinks of how often I've had to be rez'd in the course of this adventure and its 2 expansions*
"And you've never thought to use this spell before why?"
-"I used it when I thought it was appropriate"
"Is now an appropriate time to stab you in your cloth wearing back?"

For those of you who clicked on the link above and have no idea what you're looking at let me summarize.
When the caster is level 20+ he gets max damage and max number of missiles.
each cast = 20 missles with max2d6 each for 12points total
20*12=240 points of damage per cast
It's worth noting that this is an AoE spell, so the damage is spread out when using on more than one monster but still... off the top of my head the most difficult creature(final boss) was 475hp though I'm smart enough to trick him to his death. Most difficult ones were at 220ish hp. (frost giants guards I think). I mean seriously saving this for like the last 10-20 fights of the entire adventure. What The Fuck Rhaen!

To be fair, Isaac's Missile generations have been my mainstay for the entire campaign. The simple fact is that it is not the most powerful spell in the game in terms of raw numbers. Hellball, Dragon's Breath and others beat it on those terms. There are a number of instant-death true AOE spells that kill everything in a radius independent on the total number of creatures inside the radius.
However, the campaign designers decided that practically every monster in HOTU was invulnerable to death magic, and in most cases had massive elemental resistance. When you're a necromancer (which I was) and everyone's immune to death magic you get a little irritated. Magic missile, however, isn't stopped by elemental resistances and thus was more effective. Even then when I use maximised Isaac's greater missile storm I only have a limited number of uses, in the region of 5 or 6. If I used it on every Frost Giant, I'd be out of spells before we even reached the pit fiends and then I wouldn't hear the end of it 'why did you waste your most effective spells on frost giants!?' At least you were impressed by my Summoned Red Dragon.
And you didn't so much 'trick' him to death as force his demise through economics.
Stabby Stabby... face, back, side its mostly all the same.
Mostly. *Sneak Attack Backstab!*
Clearly what we need is a plate wearing sword (or axe) carrying meat shield. (Paladins need not apply) Things would go so much better. I mean this business of having to keep one eye on your
