Starcon '08
This weekend was spent at Starcon. Special guests being Adam Baldwin and Zachary Quinto, both of whom are great guys and very laid back. Adam was nice enough to buy us all a round of drinks after many people kept buying him drinks at the afterparty/shindig.
Much swag was looted and bought. (Way to much me thinks) I even took a Klingon cooking class. That was a bit entertaining (and delicious). Pictures of all the phat lewts will be posted tomorrow or so, when I get to it.
Funniest line of the weekend - after 3 Long Island Ice Teas, I needed a hand from my trusty and sober friend to get back up stairs. (this is after a Klingon tried to abduct me back to his room (and I quote) "so I can do dirty things to you"
And after Adam Baldwin confirmed that he had not been asked as of yet to play Masterchief in the upcoming Halo movie, but that he would seriously consider it if he was offered.
Me - Whats up!
My friend - Your BAC.
Me -
For some reason that was so funny I was on the floor laughing so hard.
There was also a Scientology booth doing free "Stress Tests" and selling copies of Dianetics. Funny they should show up at a sci-fi convention. Needless to say there was Anonymous with "Free Hugs" signs and passing out little paper clips of things. I think I shall send the Denver Tech Center Marriott a strongly worded letter about allowing 'religious' cults to recruit at conventions held on their property.
All said a great time was had by all and we plan to go again next year. (Summer Glau has been invited for next year!)
Chinese Democracy is finally delivered...
...but will the album deliver?
14 years of doing god knows what and finally Axl Rose has delivered this album to the band's label. Conveniently a GnR reality tv show is set to start around the same time as estimated release. I guess they've got 14 years worth of material to work with at this point.
Charlton Heston...
So I wake up to find out the hero of many little(and not so little) boys has passed away
And now for something completely different...
just a song thats been in my head all night, surprisingly not Greenday or Offspring.
You can not intimidate the collective...
This is a rather fascinating video showing the how and why of Anonymous' success.
